Stetson University is a medium-sized private institution with an excellent academic reputation. Its main campus is located in the heart of DeLand, which is about half an hour outside of Daytona Beach on the way to Orlando. More like a small college than a university, students are drawn from all around the region to this somewhat conservative institution.

The high quality of Stetson University’s academic program have resulted in giving the university a very high rank among all other universities in the South, where it is ranked third by U.S. News & World Report. Strong undergraduate programs include business, Russian and music. For graduate students its law programs are in the top five in the entire nation.
The music program at Stetson is on the 2014 Fiske Guide to Colleges list of small colleges and universities strong in music for preprofessionals.

For an institution of its size Stetson University has a very active campus life. There are over 100 student organizations. About 84% of first year students choose to live on campus.
Daytona Beach is only twenty minutes away and there are also freshwater springs nearby great for swimming and canoeing.
Stetson’s athletic team, the Hatters (after the type of hat whose manufacturer the university is named after), compete on a Division I level in the Atlantic Sun Conference, and their football team returned in 2013 after a 58 year absence.
