Florida Memorial University, often referred to as FMU, is the only historically black college or university in South Florida. Founded in 1879 in Live Oak and first moved to St. Augustine, then Jacksonville before moving to its current location in Miami Gardens, a Miami suburb, FMU is also an institution with much history and tradition.
