Florida Atlantic University (FAU) with its main campus in Boca Raton and its six satellite campuses across Palm Beach, Broward and St. Lucie Counties is one of the two Florida public universities in South Florida. Initially, FAU only admitted graduate and upper-division undergraduate students, but policies have changed and FAU now has a more traditional structure.

Until fairly recently, FAU admission requirements were on the low side. Now, however, FAU only admits students with a high school GPA of at least 2.6 and an SAT score of at least 1390.

With several exceptions, all full-time freshman at FAU must stay in university housing. FAU offers programs that seek to house students with other students taking similar courses so that they can assist each other with course work.
There are about 300 university affiliated clubs and organisations which cater to almost any interest.
