There are many other institutes of higher education in Jacksonville in addition to the University of North Florida. The other state school in the city is the very large Florida State College at Jacksonville. This city is also home to Florida’s oldest historically black college, Edward Waters College, as well as Jacksonville University, Florida Coastal School of Law, the Art Institute of Jacksonville, and Jones College.
Introduction to Jacksonville
The lower 48’s biggest city by area, Jacksonville weighs in at a whopping 840 sq miles. Of this expanse, the most interesting areas are the riverfront downtown, the Jacksonville beaches on the Atlantic coast, and, for our purposes, the campus of the University of North Florida, which is located on a natural preserve somewhere between the former two locations.
